Our local wine - it reflects the wine-growing conditions of Unter- and Oberloiben. The grapes for this local wine come from the vineyards in the Loiben basin near the Danube. The soil is characterized by alluvial sand, gravel and pebbles.

Tasting notes: Fine aromas of green apples combined with vineyard peach and delicate herbal notes on the nose. Medium-bodied on the palate with refreshing acidity and slightly salty minerality; juicy fruit notes on the finish. A characteristic Federspiel Grüner Veltliner wine, balanced, well-balanced and very elegant.

THE TENSION OF THE NEW, THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE GENERATIONS.

How can a young winery have more than 100 years of experience? Through the power of the family. Simon Gattinger is the fourth generation to vinify wine in the middle of the Loibner Kellergasse and draws from this knowledge - an invaluable value, Simon knows. The Gattinger family’s winemaking tradition began in 1912 with great-grandfather Anton. Then grandfather Leopold and later father Leo took over, who over the years focused exclusively on grape production.

The passion has always been there, then came knowledge and inspiration through studies and internships. Together with the desire to build something new in the Wachau, this was the perfect mix. The historic cellar was converted into a modern plant on three levels in 2022 - where only the gravity of the must finds its way into the cellar. Some say it is sustainable: Simon wants to use the knowledge of generations to vinify wines with a future.

Just as Simon sees his home.
