2015 Les Côteaux Merlot

Le Côteaux Merlot from the Mont du Toit winery is an elegant red wine that develops its full complexity thanks to its 12-month maturation in French oak barrels. It presents itself with a deep, ruby red color and fills the nose with aromas of ripe plums, dark cherries and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, the Merlot displays soft, supple tannins accompanied by subtle spicy notes and a hint of chocolate. Its long and balanced finish makes it a perfect companion for a variety of dishes. It impresses with its harmonious balance and depth and is an outstanding representative of South African Merlots.

Recommendation: Serve chilled at 10-12 degrees Celsius, preferably in large wine glasses, as this allows the many aromas to develop best. The wine goes very well with fried fish dishes, e.g. fried sole with creamy porcini mushroom risotto, as well as white meat and medium-strong cheeses. Optimal drinking maturity until 2027.
