The 2017 L'Hêtre, the latest estate wine from Jacques Thienpont and Fiona Morrison, offers red summer fruits on the nose, dots of strawberries on a hot July day mixed with rose petals. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, fleshy tannins. It's not a complex Côtes de Castillon and it needs a little more delineation on the finish, but it has a light-hearted charm that will make it deliciously drinkable over several years.
