The 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Collection Charles Giraud has the darkest fruit of the three 2018s from Saint-Préfert, showing notes of black cherry and dark chocolate, as well as hints of wintergreen, cassia bark and baking spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied but less expansive than the others, compact and dense without being heavy or overpowering, and it is framed by ripe but supportive tannins. Mexican chocolate and cola notes linger elegantly on the lingering finish.
