The 2020 Le Prieure is a blend of 83% Merlot and 17% Cabernet Franc with 14.3% alcohol. It is expected to mature for 16 months in French oak barriques, 35% of which are new. Deep purple-black in color, it needs a little swirling and coaxing to reveal fragrant notes of lilac, underbrush and sandalwood over a core of sour cherries and plum jam, as well as a hint of wood smoke. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with lovely energy and tension, layers of juicy red and black fruits with a soft texture and a long, perfumed finish.
