The best of slate, an exceptional wine with a fine aromatic richness. Nuances of fresh Golden Delicious apple, delicate hints of pear, pleasant herbal spice. Complex, juicy, ripe honeydew melon on the finish, fine acidity. Has great development potential.
The inhabitants of the town of Krems used to be warned of enemies from the high mountain. The mighty terraces of the Wachtberg, which face south-east, reach up to 400 meters above sea level. Gneiss with schistose sections forms the subsoil, on top of which lie mighty loess deposits that provide calcareous, silt-rich soil.

The roots of the Zöhrer winery and family go back 750 years to the time of the Babenbergs.
We work consistently to exploit the potential of the great vineyards, which are among the most important in the Krems Valley. For it is there, in the terroir of the vineyards, that the strength of the Zöhrer winery lies. Most of the vines were planted by the grandfather and father 40 to 100 or more years ago. The focus is on the varieties Grüner Veltliner and Riesling. The wines have an unmistakable profile, are characterized by their origin and enjoy international appreciation.
That Kremstal is an important wine-growing region in Lower Austria, which extends around the city of Krems on the Danube. It connects the gentle hills of the Danube Valley with the foothills of the Waldviertel. The Kremstal is known for its first-class Grüner Veltliner and Rieslings, which find ideal conditions here thanks to the combination of loess and primary rock soils as well as the Pannonian and cool Waldviertel climate.
In addition to the wines, the region is characterized by its picturesque cellar alleys, traditional wine culture and the charming mixture of history and modernity. The Kremstal is one of Austria's DAC areas, which underlines the special quality of the region's typical wines.
