Ruby red color, dense with violet reflections, bright in the glass. The bouquet is concentrated, intense and very appealing, it smells of ripe wild berries, stewed blackberries with strongly pronounced aromas of spices, cloves, cinnamon and black pepper dominate, fine nuances of oak, tobacco, licorice and graphite round off the first impression. On the palate, the Saint-Joseph Cru "Sainte-Epine" presents itself with plenty of power and fully ripe fruit, revealing a concentrated body rich in fully ripe fruit coated with ripe tannins. Fresh on the palate with perfectly balanced acidity, plenty of extract and a long-lasting finish.
Recommendation: Serve at 16-18 degrees, open 1-2 hours in advance, decant if possible. Goes very well with fine meat dishes, grilled roast beef with sweet potatoes and strong jus, spicy game ragouts or strong, mature hard cheese. Optimal drinking maturity 2019 to 2029.
