René Gabriel: "63 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 22 % Merlot, 12 % Cabernet Franc, 3 % Petit Verdot. 35 hl/ha. Extremely dark purple with purple and violet reflections. Compact, profound bouquet, basically blue to black berry fruit, the floral note carries a very fine hint of geraniol, but you can only guess a little of the basic aromas because the bouquet currently allows little communication. In the second attack, black olives, subtly woody, pumpernickel, tar and summer truffles, with a hint of mint on top for refreshment. Firm palate, good juice, attractive tannin-acid combination. Certainly a great Bordeaux, but it lacks the inner warmth to be truly great. Because the great Montrose years were somehow always the hot millésimes. But let's wait until it reaches maturity. Then I can - at least I hope so - adjust it upwards in 15 years." 18/20 points Weinwisser 04/2012
