It needs time to open up, because even at five years old it has muscle and well-framed fruit, but it's worth the wait of a few hours in the decanter. Fragrant raspberry leaves, sandalwood, tobacco, pencil lead, juicy black cherry, blood orange, melted tannins, all with finesse and complexity. The wine is made from old vines up to 90 years old (almost exclusively) from Tempranillo at 750 to 1000 meters above sea level, from a selection of our own vines and those of local producers. This is the first vintage of the Place and a new project, and it is outstanding. It is 25% new oak. Jean-Claude and Jeff Berrouet are consultants and work with winemaker Montxo Martinez and owners Marcos and Carlos Yllera.
