2016 VivaltuS Magnum 1.5L

It needs time to open up, because even at five years old it has muscle and well-rimmed fruit, but it's worth the wait of a few hours in the decanter. Fragrant raspberry leaves, sandalwood, tobacco, pencil lead, juicy black cherry, blood orange, molten tannins, all with finesse and complexity. The wine is made from old Tempranillo vines up to 90 years old (almost exclusively) at an altitude of 750 to 1000 meters, from a selection of our own vines and those of local producers. This is Place's first vintage and a new project, and it is outstanding. It is made from 25% new oak. Jean-Claude and Jeff Berrouet are consultants and work with the winemaker Montxo Martinez and the owners Marcos and Carlos Yllera.
