2018 Cabernet Beckstoffer To Kalon The Three Kings

The Beckstoffer portion of the historic original To Kalon Vineyard in the Oakville AVA was first planted with vines back in 1868. After the phylloxera plague, it was replanted with several clones of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, with modern trellises and closer vine spacing. Schrader, Realm and of course Carter Cellars, among others, have grapes from this legendary site. From the back of Beckstoffer To Kalon, it shows excellent balance and concentration and is a successful expression of the power of clone 7 from this world-class vineyard. With its opulent and fruit-driven profile, the wine beguiles the senses, with firm tannin, savory spice and decadent fruit on the palate with supporting acidity and plenty of potential.
