2019 L'Evangile

From the first moment your nose approaches the glass, you know something special is happening. Seductive, rich, mouth-filling to the point where you really understand what that means. It literally leaps out of your mouth, with an obvious density of luscious blackberries and raspberries, but also with a vertical ascent on the palate. Purple notes mingle with baked earth, grilled licorice, tension and seduction. The highest percentage of Cabernet Franc in the blend in recent history and the first time that all the Cabernet Franc present in the vineyard was used - and also the first time that a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon was included since the Rothschilds took over the estate. Have I ever tasted a better L'Evangile? Certainly not at this point in time, and it is one of the few wines of 2019 that I can call perfect without question. I'm not giving 100 points for En Primeur, but this wine is simply delicious and I can't wait to try it in the bottle.
