The Rheingau is actually a Riesling stronghold. However, the Kaufmann winery has a somewhat more open approach to the portfolio of its wines, which is certainly not least due to the winemaker's origins in Switzerland. And for us, the winery's real surprising strengths lie in the Burgundy varieties, without wanting to diminish the quality of the Rieslings. But the uno Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay, with their great smoothness and deep aromas, prove what can be achieved with unusual grape varieties from the Rheingau terroir.
