The Pares vineyard, a very small top site already known in the High Middle Ages, is home to the grapes for our VDP Grosses Gewächs. The name Pares is derived from the regional term for paradise. A beautiful description for a very special vineyard. The high stone content and the old vines produce wines with great elegance and mineral depth, while the loess content lends a delicate creaminess. The expressive fruit aromas of the wine are underlined by fine roasted aromas from the final ageing in barriques. Pinot Noirs from the Pares need many years of ageing to develop their full beauty, but are already wines for special occasions. Ageing: 22 months in barrique barrels.

Our wines from the great vineyards are the heart of our collection. They come from parcels of precisely defined terroirs in which wines with a very special character mature and reflect their origin. They are planted with traditional grape varieties that are closely defined by region and adapted to the soil type and receive our utmost attention. Great site wines are wines for very special occasions, can be stored and have special ageing potential.

Since 1881, the J.Neus winery has stood for Pinot Noir tradition in the red wine town of Ingelheim am Rhein. Back then, founder Josef Neus Senior laid the foundation for our self-imposed goal, Pinot Noir at the highest level level. Today, these old vines, well-maintained wooden barrels and in-depth knowledge of the chalky vineyards in the district form the solid basis for meeting the standards we have set ourselves.
