2010 Lafite Rothschild

Extremely dark purple with purple and violet highlights. Dramatic Cabernet bouquet, not hot, not warm, but floral, fresh and direct, just à point, blueberry notes and licorice, black precious woods and tobacco underneath. Perfect palate, already showing first melting over the rounded, fine tannins, perfumed inside, the astringency is almost delicate, intense, royal finish. There is nothing to complain about here, but only to admire without envy. A legendary Lafite of the special class. Charles Chevalier: "This is the great classic, not least because it is almost a normal Lafite in terms of alcohol content; we ended up with about 13.5 percent by volume. So a rather reassuring situation compared to certain competitors."
