2010 Latour 1er Cru

Very dark garnet with violet and black highlights, dense in the middle. Noble, subtly cool and also reserved Cabernet bouquet, truffle notes, bakelite, black plums, seems sublime, showing clear, classic Latour aromatics. Big palate, lots of meat, demanding but also quite already pleasant astringency, one-third blueberry, two-thirds blackberry, shows muscle and edge and is not unlike its 1988 in principles, simply with more alcohol, tannins and acidity. Here you have to keep the case nailed shut for 20 years if you don't want to miss a large part of what is hidden inside. After so many years of polished primeur presentations, this is once again a properly gutsy Latour of old grist and grain.
