2019 Berliquet

Vibrant plum color. I love the deep creaminess that shows on the first nose, with hints of cocoa and smoke. There's more clay here than at Canon; about 50% of the vineyard has a clay layer over the limestone, while at Canon it's more like 10%, which means Berliquet is less ethereal, more urgent and powerful, but still with precision and feathery chalk tannins. The underground limestone cellars have been restored for barrel aging. A yield of 45 hl/ha. 45% new oak in the 2nd full year that the Canon team works the vineyard.
