2019 Clos Dubreuil

Opaque purple with black center and ruby highlights. Expansive, delicately compote-like bouquet with prunes, blackberry jelly, cardamom, delicate violet scents and licorice. In the second attack, demassin liqueur, sponge cake notes and chocolate shavings evoke childhood memories: a fresh Black Forest cake at grandma's house. On the full-bodied palate with a silky texture, tightly woven body embraces delicate muscle and finely mealy extract paired with a creamy richness. Fireworks of dried small black berries, pencil lead and juniper on the concentrated finish. Lags just behind the terrific 2016 for me, but has chances to catch up in drinking maturity!
