The mild winter resulted in early budbreak. In spring, cool and rainy weather spared the vineyard from frost. The vine cycle slowed down, heralding a year of average earliness. The very hot and dry summer accelerated the cycle, forming ripe fruit for harvest. The vines withstood the heat thanks to the draining and refreshing role of the clay.
