Grapes from terraced vineyards in the Spitzer Graben are used for this wine. The cool climate, influenced by currents from the Waldviertel, particularly characterizes the wine style of the westernmost part of the Wachau. The grapes are grown mainly on poor, stony soils, gneiss with partial marble inclusions.
Open and approachable on the nose, striking spice with aromas of thyme, tarragon, fennel and salted almonds; wet stone and chalky on the palate, compact and focused, with a long finish. Not served too cold, this Grüner Veltliner a versatile food companion. It harmonizes perfectly with Austrian dishes such as a spicy beef carpaccio, with baked porcini mushrooms or with stuffed veal breast.

Domäne Wachau has developed into one of the most important wineries in Austria with a variety of typical Wachau wines under the management of Roman Horvath MW and Heinz Frischengruber. The small plots on the steep terraces along the Danube are painstakingly cultivated by hand by the winegrowing families, the heroes of the estate.
