In the bouquet ripe aromatics, dense, powerful, elegant spice, great play of warm ripe and cool mineral aromas, opens up more and more with air and has a great arc of tension Multilayered aromas, green sugar snap peas, sweet and fully ripe citrus fruits, overripe bananas, dried apricots, candied ginger. We hand pick the Tabor vineyard always at the end of our harvest. Extremely high ripeness grapes without botrytis.
A monumental and complex Grüner VeltlinerA monumental and complex wine that delights with its concentration, complex aromas, clarity and youthfulness.
Aging: in steel tank, 8 months on the fine lees.

Site: Ried Tabor
This vineyard is probably one of the most interesting vineyards, because the Grüner Veltliner vines are the oldest in Austria. Stand unimproved, that is, on their own roots, in the ground. Planted near the Danube on sandy soil, they survived the phylloxera catastrophe that destroyed everything in the last century (from 1872) and are undoubtedly the last of their kind in our country.

Drinking suggestions: Perfect fireside wine or with strong dishes such as steak and braised meats.

Alcohol content: 14% vol.

Residual sugar: 2,3 g/l

Bottler, importer: Weingut Forstreiter GmbH, Hollenburger Kirchengasse 7, 3506 Krems-Hollenburg, Austria.

Like hardly any other winery in Lower Austria's Krems Valley, the Forstreiter winery succeeds in combining tradition and innovation.

The winery owns Tabor, the oldest vineyard in Austria with ungrafted Grüner Veltliner vines, and its wine cellar, which has been growing organically for decades, is one of the most modern wine production facilities in the region. Located in Hollenburg, the south-easternmost district of the white wine capital Krems, the winery has been family-owned since 1868 and, although it has grown from 28 to 54 hectares over the last few decades, is still run by the current winemaker Meinhard Forstreiter as a family business in close contact with nature. The main variety is Grüner Veltliner, but Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Gelber Muskateller and red wines from Zweigelt and St. Laurent, which are successfully exported to 17 different countries.
