Clear spice, some fig and cinnamon exoticism, but set against fine tannins and a ton of juice. An elegant La Mission, not the most lushly textured of vintages at this estate, but it's open and would be very enjoyable to drink now. Hints of damson and black cherry as it opens up further. A lovely La Chapelle, perhaps the most attractive of the second wines of the first wines at the moment. Easy to recommend. 35% new oak.
