Clear spice, some fig and cinnamon exoticism, but set against fine tannins and a ton of juice. An elegant La Mission, not the most lushly textured of the vintages at this estate, but it is open and would be very pleasant to drink now. Hints of plum and black cherry as it opens up further. A nice La Chapelle, perhaps the most attractive of the second wines of the firsts right now. Easily recommended. 35% new oak.
