The 2014 Fonplegade has an almost opaque bouquet that demanded constant swirling of the glass before reluctantly offering aromas of blackberry, raspberry and cedar, with just a hint of chimney fire in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins, the acidity finely balanced with a voluminous and powerful finish of blackcurrant jam, raspberry and black pepper. There's a lot going on in this Fonplegade and the persistence suggests it will age for a decade or more.
