2018 Les Hauts de Smith Rouge

It is still one of the best second wines on the market and its price/quality ratio for pleasure is still excellent! As the second wine of Château Smith Haut Lafitte, Grand Cru Classé de Graves, the Hauts de Smith is vinified in the same magnificent underground cellar as the Grand Vin (which itself was rated 95 points by Robert Parker). This vintage has a beautiful, brilliant, dark red robe. The nose is expressive and elegant with notes of red fruits, spices, vanilla and flowers. On the palate, the attack is fine and creamy with a nice tannic structure. The taste on the palate is already very enjoyable (round, harmonious, well balanced) and goes into a finish of nice length, very fresh and aromatic. This second wine will bring you as close as possible to this thoroughbred wine and at the same time take you as far as possible from its price!
